Success Story - Zeonardo Multi-Fuel Project

The Optimiser was developed for Zeonardo Ltd. to meet the requirements of its diesel / multi-fuel concept.   This provides commercial fleet owners with valuable fuel cost savings without risk to the engine life or reliability.   Ongoing development of different fuel variants will further reduce the carbon footprint of road haulage.

The unit manages 2 or 3 Separate Fuels, one of which is the original Common Rail Diesel Injection system.   Unlike many of the systems on the market which reduce the diesel by manipulating the rail pressure or the pedal signal, the Optimiser takes over direct control of the diesel injectors, replicating the OEM functionality.   This avoids the degradation of the combustion and the risk of fault indications from the On Board Diagnostics system.

However, in order to meet this challenge the R2G2 engineers have used their knowledge of OBD and incorporated a complex mechanism for integratingthe OEM diagnostics with that of the Zeonardo system.    The result is a sophisticated device which is transparent to the driver in its operation, enhancing protection of the engine.

The Rugged Contruction is designed for Engine Bay Mounting.

The first application of the Optimiser is on a 6 cylinder 350 kilowatt engine, several demonstrator vehicles are now in operation, undergoing driveability and consumption trials.

The Optimiser was developed from the R2Zen processor platform, but in this case the core hardware was integrated into the Optimiser to give a single-board solution.   This resulted in a more streamlined module and a lower production cost in the larger quantities demanded for this product.
