Success Story - T72 Re-Engine ECU Project

Developed for the Czech Army to supply a modern up-rated 1000 bhp engine for the T72 vehicle.

The ECU provides Full Authority Control of the fuelling system, including demanding position control loop, engine protection and diagnostic sub-system, complex fan speed control, custom tachometer drive and exhaust brake.   This entailed interfaces to 27 sensors and actuators, and also J1708/J1587 and RS232 serial databuses.

The ECU was based on the R2G2 Fullly Rugged design concept.

R2G2 provided consultation and expertise in all aspects of the electronic control design, including fuelling linearisation and position control stability.   Our engineers assisted in customer-facing system design and detailed development of the ECU hardware and software, and supported test bed and field trials.

R2G2 also designed and supplied the engine-mounted Transducer Box.   This houses sensor and engine data storage in a high temperature, high vibration location at the top of the engine, and combines several engine sensor signals for onward routing to the ECU.

R2G2 devised and developed the complex inter-unit data transfer protocol.   

Power packs including R2G2 Engine Control Unit and Transducer Box were delivered on time.
